iNTRODUCTION tO MY tRAVEL EXPERIENCE
June 12, 2025
My love for traveling came when I was in the Navy. I recall that when I joined and we were allowed to pick our orders, I did not want to be stationed overseas. But the Navy had other plans. They placed me in Iwakuni, Japan. Here I was, a young adult in my early 20s in this foreign country. I did not understand the language or culture. It was a huge culture shock. However, I was eager to explore. To my surprise, I was in awe of its unexpected beauty. The scenery, cherry blossom trees, the fresh ramen, and even their McDonald’s tasted better. I was able to explore different islands That often included bunnies runny around and Deers walking up to you. The beaches were beautiful and the people were nice.
Travel has been a comforting form of therapy, growth, and discovery for me. My love for exploring new places was sparked during my time in the military, where I had the opportunity to experience diverse cultures, meet people from different backgrounds, and encounter various ways of life. Today, I continue that journey, sometimes physically, sometimes emotionally, seeking meaning in every new place I land. Whether it’s in another country, state, city, or new area within my city. Here, I share not just where I go but how each destination shapes the lens through which I view life, healing, and/or purpose, providing me with a sense of comfort and reassurance.
